This was the first publication I created after finalizing my thesis topic. At the time, my instructors Cristina and Scott gave me the prompt to connect my thesis theme, order and disorder, with CCA’s new building, Double Ground. I spent some time exploring the space. The building was still under construction, but due to the start of the new semester, it had already been put into use. As a result, construction materials and unopened furniture were scattered throughout.
This in-between phase of the building, caught between construction and public use, embodied a strong tension between order and disorder.
I chose to present this work in the form of a zine because I also wanted to explore my thesis through writing — using poems and short essays to express my thoughts on moments of order, systems, chaos, and disorder. In my reflection, this small new building, Double Ground, became a metaphor for the broader human world and the natural systems we live in.
